Meet Dr. Michael B Border, DDS, MD

Dr. Mike Border is originally from Strongsville, Ohio. He completed his undergraduate degree at the University of Mount Union, earning a BS in Biochemistry with the distinction of summa cum laude. After graduation, he was accepted into The Ohio State University College of Dentistry where he received his Doctorate of Dental Surgery in 2015, graduating at the top of his class. During his time at Ohio State University, Dr. Border served as the president of OSU’s chapter of the American Student Dental Association and received awards from the OSU Department of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery, the American Dental Association, the Ohio Dental Association (ODA), and the American Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery.
Following dental school, Dr. Border began a rigorous, six-year Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery residency program at Vanderbilt University Medical Center in Nashville, Tennessee. He earned his medical degree from the Vanderbilt University School of Medicine in 2018 and completed a one-year general surgery internship. In his final year of training, Dr. Border served as chief resident in the Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery Department. He also served as the national president of the Resident Organization of the American Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons.
Dr. Border’s clinical interests include dentoalveolar surgery, dental implant rehabilitation, reconstructive bone grafting techniques, the delivery of IV and general anesthesia, orthognathic surgery, and the management of facial trauma. Dr. Border is regularly sought out to provide “All-on-X” or “hybrid” dental implant solutions. As a surgeon for the Columbus Blue Jackets, Dr. Border manages all facial and oral trauma sustained on the ice while also providing comprehensive oral surgery services for the organization.
Dr. Border is a member of the American Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons, the Ohio Society of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons, the American Dental Association, and the Ohio Dental Association. Additionally, he belongs to the NHL Team Physicians Society (NHLTPS) and the NHL Team Dentists Association while also maintaining privileges at Dublin Methodist Hospital.
Outside of work, Dr. Border enjoys traveling, golfing, live music, and spending quality time with his family. His wife, Lauren, is also a Columbus native and a proud member of the Ohio State University College of Dentistry alumni. Dr. Border enjoys spending his free time with his wife, Lauren, and their children Pierce and Lily.
