Dr. Gregory A Rekos, DDS, MS

Dr. Rekos, a West Virginia native, attended East Carolina University in 1998, where he studied biology and gained early admission to West Virginia University School of Dentistry in 2001. Graduating at the top of his dental school class, he received awards from the American Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons and the American Society for Geriatric Dentistry. In 2005, he completed a teaching fellowship at The Ohio State University School of Dentistry, mentoring aspiring dentists.

In 2010, Dr. Rekos earned his Master’s degree after completing a four-year surgical residency in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery at The Ohio State University. During this time, he was privileged to be appointed as a registrar at St. James Hospital in Dublin, Ireland.

Since entering private practice in 2010, Dr. Rekos continues to practice the full scope of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery including third molar (wisdom tooth) removal, extraction of teeth, sinus augmentation, and bone grafts for dental implant rehabilitation. He performs dental implant placement to replace single or multiple teeth including “All-On-4” or “Hybrid” implant teeth-in-a-day solutions. Additionally, he treats facial fractures, oral pathology and performs jaw reconstruction. Dr. Rekos is ACLS-certified and licensed by the Ohio State Dental Board to administer general anesthesia. Dr. Rekos has been consistently named the “Best Oral Surgeon in Central Ohio” by Columbus Monthly magazine.

Since joining the Columbus Blue Jackets in 2010, Dr. Rekos has served in a leadership role, treating facial and oral trauma sustained on the ice and providing comprehensive oral surgery to the organization. He worked at the NHL All-Star Game in 2015, the World Cup of Hockey training camp and scrimmage between Team USA and Team Canada in 2016, and the NHL Stadium Series. Dr. Rekos has treated some of the most notable injuries in NHL history, earning praise in publications such as ESPN the MagazineColumbus Monthly, and FanSided.

Dr. Rekos is actively involved with the American Dental Association through the ADA Advisory Circle, providing insights on current dental topics. He is a member of the American Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons, the Ohio Society of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons, the American Dental Association, and the Ohio Dental Association. Additionally, he belongs to the NHL Team Physicians Society (NHLTPS) and the NHL Team Dentists Association. Dr. Rekos is privileged at Dublin Methodist Hospital and serves as a team doctor for the Columbus Blue Jackets and Columbus Crew.

Dr. Rekos enjoys soccer, hockey, skiing, and rock climbing. He resides in Powell, Ohio, with his wife, Jennifer, a practicing dentist in Worthington. He spends most of his free time with his two daughters, Elin and Livia.
